Lisa contacted me after my wedding photography services had been recommended to her by two work colleagues, one of whom is a previous bride of mine and the second is a current bride of mine whose wedding I’ll be photographing this summer. It’s great to get referrals, it’s the biggest compliment you can give to a photographer or any business owner for that matter. I sometimes feel a little anxious wondering what my couples will be like, wondering if they’ll be pleased with my work, wondering how well we’ll click. All my communication with Lisa had been through emails and I didn’t know much about her – until she called me two days before the engagement shoot and all my nerves faded away. Lisa and I had a great chat on the phone, it was like catching up with an old friend and I should have known Lisa would be a perfect match since she’d come my way on the recommendation of two other fabulous brides.
Two days later we made the journey to Studland Beach in Dorset for Lisa and Chris’ engagement shoot. Lisa is from California and loves the sea. She moved here nine years ago to study at Winchester University – that’s when she met Chris. Lisa was socialising with friends in a bar in Winchester when Chris walked in. Chris and Lisa shared mutual friends and soon realised there was a spark they couldn’t ignore. Chris and Lisa were meant to find each other that day and nine years later they are planning their wedding.
Studland Beach is gorgeous and not too crowded and the long grass and sand dunes make the perfect backdrop for photos. We had a great time with Lisa and Chris and really enjoyed getting to know them. The great thing about engagement shoots is it not only gives couples a chance to relax in front of the camera before the big day but also gives us a chance to get to know each other. I think we all thought it felt like a trip out to the beach with friends rather than a business/client relationship and building that type of rapport is great because when you feel comfortable with your photographer, it helps you relax and ultimately results in better wedding photos. Lisa and Chris will be getting married at a beautiful venue in the New Forest towards the end of the summer and we’re really looking forward to it.
I hope you enjoyed this selection of images from Lisa and Chris’ Studland Beach engagement shoot. If you are looking for a wedding photographer for your wedding or engagement shoot then please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Bookings are often made a year in advance but if you’ve left it a little later, it’s worth getting in touch as I may still have your date available.
