Below you will find answers to FAQs, I hope this helps but if there’s anything you’d like to know that isn’t mentioned here, please contact me (this will direct you to my main website) and I’d be happy to answer any further questions you have.

What is your photography style?

I use the ‘Storybook’ style of wedding photography with a hint of Reportage and Still Life thrown into the mix. I like to spend around 15 minutes capturing those traditional group shots of family and friends as most people like those, especially parents and grandparents but please be aware that these are best kept to a minimum of around 6 group arrangements. It is handy to have your best man or an usher who can gather the people who are needed for these photos as this helps to speed things up significantly. Since Storybook photography takes on a less formal style, there will be few photos where people are looking directly at the camera. I’m constantly on the lookout for those moments that cannot be recreated. I believe that unplanned, caught in the moment shots make the best photos and always strive to create a relaxed atmosphere. Part of my photography style is to capture detail shots e.g. the flowers, dress, shoes, perfume bottles, jewellery, cake and table decor etc. As a female photographer I believe that all those details have been carefully selected for your wedding day and I want to preserve those details for you so that you can share them with your children and your grandchildren in years to come.

Can we meet you to see examples of your work and talk about ideas?

Of course, it’s very important that you feel at ease with your photographer and are happy with the type of images they produce. To see the style of photography I produce it’s best to browse the main website and blog. However, if you would like to chat in person or would like to see some sample wedding albums then I’d be delighted to arrange a mutually convenient time to meet.

How many photographs will you take?

Working with digital cameras means an unlimited number of photos can be taken, I will then select the best photos during the editing process for you to view. There will be a range of colour and black and white photos. High res digital files of the edited wedding images will be presented to you in digital format along with a slideshow of all your edited wedding images set to music. If you have opted for an album as part of your photography package, you will be able to select which photos you’d like included in your album. The number of images included in the album depends on the size of album you have ordered.

Should we make a list of photos that we’d like taken on the day?

If you would like specific photos or group shots taken on the day we can discuss this at our pre-wedding meeting which is usually about 6-8 weeks before your wedding day. Typically, about 15 minutes is spent taking group photos although it is advisable to keep these to a minimum so that the photos are mainly natural, relaxed, or candid shots. It also means that you and your guests have more time to mingle and enjoy the day.

Do you photograph more than one wedding per day?

I guarantee that I will only photograph one wedding on your special day and will not have commitments elsewhere.

How many photographers will there be?

Whilst I am the lead photographer, I always work with a second photographer providing a dual perspective on your wedding day.

How long will you stay at our wedding?

The time spent at each wedding varies. Around 90 minutes is spent with the bride before the ceremony taking photos her wedding preparations and capturing detailed photos of the dress, shoes, flowers and jewellery. Working as a team of two photographers means that if the groom is getting ready near by, one of us can photograph the bride’s preparations whilst the other photographs the groom. We will then stay with you up until the first dance, providing it is within an hour of the evening entertainment starting. The length of time we stay really depends on the size of the wedding but there is always a bit of flexibility and if the party is in full swing we will likely stay an extra half an hour to capture photos of you and your guests throwing some moves on the dance floor.

When can we see our photographs?

I will usually have your photos ready to view around 14 days after your wedding day. While you are on your honeymoon, I will be busy editing your photos for you to view when you return. During busy periods when I have a lot of weddings booked, it may take up to six weeks to edit your photos (although it is usually much quicker). During busy periods you will be advised of lead times. If you chose an album package, you will now be able to choose which photos you would like included. I will design the album for you and you will be able to approve the design and layout before it is sent for printing. Once the album has been sent for printing it will take a further 2-3 weeks for delivery. During this time your photographs will be displayed on a secure online proofing site where your guests can purchase a photo or two if they wish. If you requested a combined Album and Digital Package, your digital images will be presented to you with your album.

Which areas do you cover?

I’m based in Whiteley, Hampshire and cover wedding venues throughout Hampshire, Dorset, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Surrey, East and West Sussex. Although prices are based on weddings in these counties, I’m happy to provide a quote for wedding photography further afield, I’d even be happy to get on an aeroplane if you want me to. If your wedding venue is more than 1.5 hours drive I may ask that you cover the cost of accommodation the night before and/or the night of the wedding. I always aim to visit wedding venues prior to your wedding day, however, it may not be possible to pre visit venues further afield. If this is the case I will make sure we arrive early on your wedding day to have a good look around.

Are you insured?

Yes. I am fully insured with professional indemnity insurance and public liability insurance. Many wedding venues require all wedding vendors to be fully insured when working on their premises so it’s advisable to check with all the photographers you speak to that they are fully covered.

How can we book?

You can make a booking enquiry by completing the relevant details using the online booking enquiry form (this link will take you to the main website) or by emailing kathryn@kathrynandrewsphotography.com. I will endeavor to get back to you within 24 hours. If I have a date available to suit you, I will require a booking fee of £500 and a signed contract to secure the date. The booking fee will be deducted from the overall cost. Once I have received the booking fee and signed contract, I will confirm your booking. You are more than welcome to come and visit and chat about your wedding further over drinks and biscuits – if you’re lucky I might have cake!

What happens next?

I will arrange to meet you for a complimentary engagement photo shoot which will give us a chance to get to know each other better and share ideas about possible photo opportunities on your wedding day. You will also be able to choose your favourite image from the shoot which will be professionally printed and mounted with a wide mount which will act as a signing board for your guests to write their congratulations at your wedding (applies to weddings in Hampshire and the surrounding counties). At the engagement shoot we will be able to discuss the schedule of the day and any requests you may have.

Anything else we should know?

I love waters ports, especially swimming and sea kayaking, I have my one star BCU kayaking certificate (I should really get on and get the next one), I have climbed Mount Snowdon and both mountains either side, I love to travel, I once emigrated to Australia, I love Polo mints, have very varied taste in music ranging from Pop and current chart music to Johnny Cash and Elvis (I may have been to a few tribute nights in my time – they were really good!). I’m partial to watching EastEnders, TOWIE and Game of Thrones and like films with Sandra Bullock, Nicholas Cage and/or Liam Neeson. I have two rescue cats, Smokey and Millie and was married on 29th June 2013.
